Sarah H. Eldert, wife of Nicholas A. Van Dyke
     Sarah Hendrick Eldert, daughter of Hendrick Eldert and Sarah Hendrick Emmans, was born on 11 December 1807 at New York.2,3

     Sarah married Nicholas Albert Van Dyke, son of Albert Nicholas Van Dyke and Jane Wyckoff, on 4 November 1833.1,4,5

     Her married name was Van Dyke.1,6,5

     Sarah Hendrick Eldert was involved in the probate of the estate of Nicholas Albert Van Dyke on 7 September 1881 at Kings, New York.7

     Sarah died on 20 December 1893, at Flatlands, Kings, New York, at age 86,8 and was buried at Flatlands Dutch Reformed Church Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings, New York.9

     Sarah and Nicholas appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 5 October 1850. Nicholas was listed as a farmer. His real estate valued at $5500.00. Their children, Albert N., Henry Eldert, Jane Wyckoff, Sarah Maria, Peter Wyckoff and Cornelia Eldert were listed as living with them.10

     Sarah appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Flatbush, Kings, New York in the household of her parents, Hendrick and Sarah Hendrick Emmans.11

     Sarah and Nicholas appeared on the 1855 New York Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 29 June 1855, Their children, Albert N. and Henry Eldert were listed as living with them.12

     Sarah and Nicholas appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 26 June 1860. Nicholas was listed as a farmer. His real estate valued at $8000.00 and personal property at $1000.00. Their children, Albert N., Henry Eldert, Jane Wyckoff, Sarah Maria, Peter Wyckoff and Cornelia Eldert were listed as living with them.13

     Sarah and Nicholas appeared on the 1865 New York Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 1 June 1865, Their children, Albert N., Henry Eldert, Peter Wyckoff and Cornelia Eldert were listed as living with them.14

     Sarah and Nicholas appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 26 July 1870. He was working as a farmer. His real estate was valued at $12,000.00 and personal property at $10,000.00. Their children, Albert N., Henry Eldert, Peter Wyckoff and Cornelia Eldert were listed as living with them.15

     Sarah and Nicholas appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 19 June 1880. Nicholas was listed as a farmer. Additionaly, they had a 25 year old farm laborer in their household. Their son, Albert N. was listed as living with them.16

     Sarah appeared on the 1892 New York Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York in the household of her son, Albert.17

VAN DYKE -

At Flatlands, L. I., on Wednesday, December 20 1893, SARAH ELDERT, widow of the late Nicholas Van Dyke in the 87th year of her age. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral from the residence of her son in law, Henry Buffett, Flatlands, on Saturday, december 23, 1893, at 2 P. M.18
