Joanna H. Lott, wife of John L. Ryder
     Joanna Harris Lott, daughter of Samuel Lott and Ryme Van Dyke, was born on 20 October 1829 at Kings, New York.1

     Joanna married John L. Ryder, son of Lawrence Bernardus Ryder and Aletta Van Siclen.2

     Joanna died on 5 October 1914, at age 84,3 and was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings, New York.4

They also had a servant, Ida Ford, age 16 and Michael Stokes, age 45, working as a laborer in the home. Their children, Ryme Jane, Alletta, Phebe Ann and Maria Elizabeth were listed as living with them.7

     Joanna and John appeared on the 1875 New York Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 1 June 1875. John was working as a farmer. Their children, Ryme Jane, Alletta, Phebe Ann, Maria Elizabeth, Samuel L. and Lawrence were listed as living with them.8

     Joanna and John appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 22 June 1880. John was working as a farmer. They also had a farm laborer, James Conelly, age 28 in the home. Their children, Ryme Jane, Alletta, Phebe Ann, Maria Elizabeth, Samuel L. and Lawrence were listed as living with them.9

     Joanna appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, at Kings Highway, enumerated 11 June 1900 Joanna was a widow. She had four of her children with her, they were Ryme Jane, Alletta, Maria Elizabeth and Samuel L. .10

     Joanna appeared on the 1905 New York Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, enumerated 1 June 1905. Joanna was listed as retired. Her children Ryme Jane, Alletta and Maria Elizabeth were listed as living with them.11
