Alice E. Van Dyke, wife of Clarence E. Hough
     Alice Eldert Van Dyke, daughter of Albert Nicholas Van Dyke and Harriet Lulla Carr, was born on 4 March 1902 at Huntington, Suffolk, New York.2

     Alice married Clarence Eugene Hough on 22 September 1920, at Brooklyn, Kings, New York.3

     Alice died on 30 March 1984, at Edgewater, Volusia, Florida, at age 82,4 and was buried at Edgewater New Smyma Cemetery, Edgewater, Volusia, Florida.4

     Alice appeared on the 1915 New York Census in Huntington, Suffolk, New York in the household of her parents, Albert and Harriet.6

     Alice and Clarence appeared on the 1925 New York Census of Oatka Place, Scottsville, New York, enumerated 1 June 1925. He was working in the gypsum business. Their children, Clarence E. and Robert E. were listed as living with them.7

     Alice and Clarence appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Lyndhurst, Bergen, New Jersey, at Watson Avenue, enumerated 12 April 1930. Clarence owned his home, valued at $9500.00. They had a radio set. He was working in an office enviroment as secretary/treasurer Their children, Clarence E., Robert E. and Marjorie A. were listed as living with them.8

     Alice and Clarence appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Lyndhurst, Bergen, New Jersey, at Watson Avenue, enumerated 9 April 1940. Clarence owned his home, valued at $6000.00. He was working in an office as treasurer for a wall plaster company Their children, Clarence E., Robert E. and Marjorie A. were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $21.35 in the year 2022. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2022 would have cost $.17 cents in 1940.9

     Alice and Clarence appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Lyndhurst, Bergen, New Jersey, enumerated 5 April 1950. Clarence was an accountant for a plaster manufacturer..10

Miss Alice F. Van Dyke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Van Dyke of 5 Compton Terrace, Jamaica and Hubert B. Geist of the Bronx were married on Thursday evening at the home of the bride's parents. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. George C. Fort, Pastor of the Jamaica M. E. Church.

- Under an arch of foliage at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Van Dyke, of' 3 Compton Terrace, last night at ' 8 o'clock their , daughter. Miss Alice 'Frances Van Dyke. became the bride of Hubert Bertram Geist. of 1911 Davidson avenue, Manhattan. The Rev. Dr. George C. Fort, pastor of the Jamaica M. E. Church, officiated. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Percy B. Van Dyke, wore a gown of white georgette and a veil of tulle with a corsage bouquet of lilies of the valley. Miss Elsie Geist, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid. A reception following the ceremony had as guests Mr. and Mrs. Isaac M. Van Dyke, of Bayside, the bride's grandparents, and Mr. and Mrs. George Gosline, of City Island, her uncle and aunt. On their return from their wedding trip to Washington, D. C., the couple will make their home in Jamaica. The bride, before taking up her residence in Jamaica two years ago. lived in Hollis for twelve years. Mr. Geist is engaged in the export business in Manhattan.2,3


     Alice died on 20 May 1986,4 and was buried at Flushing Cemetery, Flushing, Queens, New York.4,5

     Alice and Hubert appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Queens, Queens, New York, enumerated 22 April 1930. Hubert was working as a petroleum salesman. He owned his home, valued at $8,500.00. They had a radio set. Their children, Thomas Van Dyke were listed as living with them.9

     Alice and Hubert appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Queens, Queens, New York, enumerated 16 April 1940. Hubert was working as a petroleum sales supervisor. The past year he worked 52 weeks and earned $4726.00 Their son, Thomas Van Dyke and Alice's parents, Thomas and Elizabeth were listed as living with them. - GEIST — Alice F. nee Van Dyke, formerly of Westbury in her 93rd year, on May 20, 1986. Beloved wile of the late Hubert, loving and devoted mother of Thomas V. Dearest; mother in-law of Joy Cherished; grandmother of Nancy Hirsch and Jeffrey Geist. Also adored by five loving great-grandchildren. Reposing Charles J O'Shea Funeral Home, 2515 No Jerusalem Rd., (northbound exit 25N SS Pkwy East Meadow). Religious service Thursday evening 8 OO PM Funerai Friday 10 00 AM. Interment Flushing Cemetery. Family wIill recieve friends 2-5 and 7-10 PM.4
