     Sarah Ann Brunson was born on 7 November 1824.1,2

     Sarah married Abram Voorhees, son of Jacques Voorhees 3rd and Ann Van Liew, on 17 November 1847.1

     Sarah died on 29 March 1901, at age 76,1 and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey.3

Final Honors Saturday For Jack Buchl

Final honors will be accorded Pfc Jack Buchl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Buchl of 14068 Lincoln avenue, Dolton who was killed in action June 6 in Korea, when funeral services will be held from St. Mary's Catholic church in Riverdale Saturday, Nov 17 at 9:30 a.m. Mass. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre cemetery. The Bachmann funeral home will have charge of arrangements. Jack had lived in Dolton since 1942 when the family moved here from Hinckley, Minn., where he was born 19 years ago. He was graduated from Lincoln school in Dolton in 1945 after attending Henry Clay school in Hegewish prior to that. He graduate from Thornton Township high school in Harvey in 1949. In June 1950 he joined the Marine Reserve. He was called into active service with the regular Marines in August 1950 and was sent to California that same month sailing for Korea Jan. 27, 1951. In Korea he was assigned to the Weapons Company, Third Battalion, First Marine Division. He leaves his parents, Joseph and Alice Buchl of Dolton; a sister Gloria Schroeder of Harvey and a niece, Carole Jean; his maternal -grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zegler of Dolton and his paternal grandmother, Mary Buchl of Hinckley, Minn.2

     Joseph L. Buchl was born on 25 November 1902 at Hinkley, Pine, Minnesota.1,2

     Joseph, at age 27, married Alice M. Ziegler at age 20, daughter of Frank W. Ziegler and Mary Svendsen, on 2 September 1930.1 Joseph L. Buchl witnessed the death of Joseph L. Buchl on 11 December 1974 at Manatee, Florida.3

Census

     Joseph and Alice appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook, Illinois, at 13201 Buffalo Avenue, enumerated 20 April 1940. He was a grain storage man. Alice was a chambermaid at a motel. Their children, Gloria and Jack, and Ziegler family, Frank W., Mary and Dorothy Gwendolyn were listed as living with them. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $21.35 in the year 2022. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2022 would have cost $.17 cents in 1940.4

Joseph Buchl

Joseph Louis Buchl, 72, of 3701 14th St West Plaza Mobile Court, died today in Manatee Memorial Hospital. A native of Minnesota, he came here from Dolton, Ill., seven years ago. He was a maintenance foreman for General Mills. He was a member’ of St Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs Alice Z Buchl, and a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Schroder of South Holland, Ill. Funeral Home Shannon Town Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.5
