Franklin was the 7th child out of 12 of James Ward and Jeanette Van Dyke of rural Greenup, Illinois. He married Bertha Weck of Yale , Illinois in 1915 in Terre Haute,IN where he lived while being a railroader.and was buried at Greenup Cemetery, Greenup, Cumberland, Illinois.3
Obituary: Frank Van Dyke- Terre Haute Star Frank Van Dyke, 24 years old, died Thursday night at 9 o'clock at his home 1100 Swan Street, Terre haute, IN. following a short illness. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Van Dyke of Greenup, Illinois, the widow Bertha and many brothers and sisters. The body was taken to Greenup, Illinois Friday for burial in the Greenup Cemetery.3
