     Sarah Van Dyke, daughter of Albert P. Van Dyke and Charity Denice, was born in September 1866 at New York.1,2

     Sarah married Daniel Webster Bennett on 18 November 1891.3,4

     Sarah, with her parents, appeared on the 1875 New York Census of Flatlands, New York, enumerated June 1875, in the home of her grandfather, Henry Denice; Henry was a fisherman.7

     Sarah and Daniel appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings, New York, at Mill Lane, enumerated 11 June 1900 He was working as a teamster. Their son, Wilbur Remsen was listed as living with them.8

     Sarah and Daniel appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Brooksville, Nassau, New York, enumerated 20 April 1910. Daniel was working as a truckman. Their children, Wilbur Remsen and Arthur were listed as living with them..9

     Sarah and Daniel appeared on the 1915 New York Census of Oyster Bay, Nassau, New York, at Brookville Road, enumerated 1 June 1915. Stephen Van Dyke and family were next door. Their children, Wilbur Remsen and Arthur were listed as living with them.10

     Sarah and Daniel appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Brookville, Nassau, New York, at Brookville Piping Rock Rrod, enumerated 17 January 1920. Daniel was a laborer on a farm. Their son, Arthur was listed as living with them.11

     Sarah and Daniel appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Oyster Bay Cove, Nassau, New York, at Oyster Bay Road, enumerated 2 April 1940. Daniel was renting, paying $15.00 per month. On 01 April 1935, they were living in East Norwich, New York.. As an item of interest, a dollar in 1940 would equal $21.35 in the year 2022. A $3.50 gallon of milk in 2022 would have cost $.17 cents in 1940.12

     Sarah Elizabeth Van Dyke, daughter of John Van Dyke and Margaret Hazelwood, was born on 17 December 1840 at Illinois.1,2

     Sarah married Dr. Lewis Brookhart after 6 September 1850.2

     Sarah died on 7 January 1933, at age 92,2 and was buried at Toledo Memorial Park, Toledo, Cumberland, Illinois.2

     Sarah Maria Van Dyke was involved in the probate of the estate of Nicholas Albert Van Dyke on 7 September 1881 at Kings, New York.6

     Sarah died on 7 July 1912, at age 71,7 and was buried at Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, Queens, New York.8

     Sarah and Lewis appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Flatlands, Kings, New York, enumerated 29 August 1870. Lewis was working as a farmer. His personal property valued at $3000.00. He had a farm laborer, Richard Ackerman, age 40, in the home. Their children, Lewis Harvey, Sarah Elizabeth and Cornelia Van Dyke were listed as living with them.11

     Sarah and Lewis appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Queens, Queens, New York, enumerated 7 June 1900 Lewis was a farmer. They had a boarder, Peter Dearing, age 38, working as a farm laborer in the home. Their children, Samuel, Harry Van Dyke, Jennie W. and Grace May Van Dyke were listed as living with them.12

Mrs. Sarah Marla Smith

SPRINGFIELD, July 9- Mrs. Sarah Maria Smith, wife of Lewis H. Smith, of Rockaway road, died at her home on Sunday. She was born seventy-one years ago in Flatlands, and was the daughter of ihe late Nicholas and Sarah E. Van Dyke. FIfty years ago on February 19, last, she married Lewis H. Smith, a member of one of ihe most honored families of Brooklyn. They spent their early life in Flatlands, but seventeen years ago they came to this community and purchased a large farm on Rockaway road. They have been honored member of the community. The funeral services will be held from the Springfield Presbyterian Church, on Wednesday, at 2 o'clock, and the interment will be at Flushing. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, her sons, Lewis H., Jr., and Samuel L. Smith, and by her daughters, Mrs. Walter D. Strang, of Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Martin V. Griffen, of New Jersey, besides her aged sister, Mrs. Henry Buffett, and her brothers, Peter and Albert Van Dyke, of Flatlands.13
