     Mary Ellen Van Dyke, daughter of John Van Dyke and Margaret Hazelwood, was born on 24 January 1858 at Illinois.1

His real estate valued at $2500.00 and personal property valued at $1000.00. Their children, Susan, Jacob, Melinda, Emma Theresa, Georgia, Florence and William Barclay were listed as living with them.7

     Matthew and Anna appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Blackwater, Saline, Missouri, enumerated 11 June 1870. Matthew was a farmer. His real estate valued at $3400.00 and personal property valued at $1500.00. Their children, Susan, Melinda, Emma Theresa, Georgia, Florence and William Barclay were listed as living with them.8

     Matthew and Anna appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Blackwater, Saline, Missouri, enumerated 16 June 1880. He was listed as a farmer. Burdened, at the time of the census, with 'Diarrhea'.. Their children, Melinda, Florence and William Barclay were listed as living with them.9

     Matthew appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Blackwater, Saline, Missouri, enumerated 25 June 1900 At this time, Matthew was listed as a widow.. His children Susan and Florence were listed as living with them.10
